| Sevenoaks 5km Charity Fun Run - 4th November 2007 |
|
Nearly
200 walkers and runners took part in the 4th annual running of the
Sevenoaks 5km Charity Fun Run in Knole Park on 4rd November. The event
was hosted by Sevenoaks Athletics Club to raise funds for a local
charity, Sevenoaks Volunteer Centre. After a foggy start to the day,
the event was blessed with glorious sunshine and this attracted 70
entries on the day alone. Everyone seemed to enjoy the event as
evidenced by the array of smiles at the end. It was a varied field of
young and old, novices and club athletes, and novelty runners, which
made for a great atmosphere with an age span of over 60
years.
All competitors were greeted with a finishing medal.
The proceeds from the event are still being collected but early indications are that they will beat last year’s total of £560 raised for Chipstead Lake Cheshire Homes. Full results will be available on the club website of Sevenoaks A.C. www.7oaks-ac.org.uk The official names/times for the winners were: Women Tina Oldershaw, Paddock Wood AC, 19:08 Abblie Shepherd-Barron, Tonbridge AC, 20:51 Katy Livingston, New Marske Harriers, 21:32 Men Ben McLean, New Marske Harriers, 17:45 Adam Stephens, Worthing Harriers, 19:55 Paul Nash, 21:34. The event was very well received. Several people commented on how well organized it was. Given the success of the event it is the intention of Sevenoaks A.C. to repeat it in 2008.
