Sevenoaks AC Handicap 10 February 2019 |
In wet and windy conditions, Andrew Mead scored a narrow victory in the second race of the 2019 Sevenoaks AC monthly handicap series. Mead won for the second month in succession as he overhauled Duncan Warwick-Champion to win by just seven seconds, and beat his handicap by eight. To underline his dominance on the day, Mead also ran the fastest time of 46:12.
Warwick-Champion was the only other runner to beat his handicap, with his time of 62:59 over the distance and in the conditions marking a promising return to regular running. He was also a minute and a half clear of James Baker in third (49:22), while Sylvia Lewis, thirty seconds behind in fourth in 73:30, was the first and fastest woman on the day. After wins in the first two races, Andrew Mead already looks hard to catch in the twelve-race series. The next instalment, the third race of the 2019 series, is over the alternate five mile course. It starts from the Sevenoaks School track at 9 am on Sunday 24 March. Newcomers are very welcome to come and run. |
