SCVAC Track & Field League Division 2 2010 - Event 4

Match 4 of the SCVAC track and field series was held at the Julie Rose Stadium, Ashford on 14 June , writes Geoff Kitchener. David Simpson, who holds club best javelin performances in 4 age groups includimg the M70s, threw 21.75m to secure 3rd place in the M60 competition (a tougher event than the M50s). The M60 high jump was won by Geoffrey Kitchener.

On the track, races opened with the 200m sprint, in which Maurice Marchant and Geoffrey both took 3rd places, the former as M60 and the latter stepping down to the stiffer M50 competition. Maurice also came 2nd in the M50 competition over 1500m, with a time of 6 mins 6.2 secs. The fastest Sennockian over this distance was Rob Carr, in 5 mins 26 secs, in the second half of the race drawing away from Duncan Warwick-Champion, who took 3rd place in the B stream runners. Unfortunately Duncan also picked up an injury in that race, which left us short of a full team for the relay. However, as over half the Division 2 clubs were unable to field a team either, this made little difference to the final result.

Sevenoaks AC finished in 5th position in the match. We were lying 3rd in the Division 2 series at the beginning of the meeting, and preserved this position at the end. Thanks are due to John Robinson and John Denyer for fulfilling our judging commitments. Results HERE.

The next match (the penultimate in the series) will be on 28 June, again at Ashford, and will include triple jump, pole vault, hammer, 3000m and 400m.
