SCVAC Track & Field League Division 2 2010 - Event 5

A team of seven Sennockians secured a second placing in match 5 of the SCVAC track and field series, held at Ashford on 28 June , writes Geoff Kitchener.

The most prolific contributor of match points was Keith Dowson, in his first competition with the team. Not content with setting a challenging time of 10:34 in the 3000m M35 race, he also put in performances in the 400m sprint, triple jump and hammer, some of which required an ability to be in two places at once.

Other competitors over the 3000m distance were Jim Duffill in the M50 category, which he won, nearly a minute clear of the next M50 competitor, in 10:39.9; Rob Carr, who was second in the M35 B string; and Geoff Vine, who was third in the M60 race, battling it out with Maurice Marchant.

Geoffrey Kitchener stepped down an age category and took second places in the M50 triple jump and 400m, with a season's best of 62.1 seconds in the latter. David Simpson also shed a few years to participate in the M50 pole vault, taking third place with 1.40m.

Our second placing in the match helped consolidate our overall third position in the series, out of the seven teams in division 2. Results HERE.
