The first meeting of the SCVAC 2015 series took place on 1 May at Bromley. James Graham gave Sevenoaks AC a boost by an excellent victory in the M60 3000m, with a time of 11 minutes 18.5 seconds, writes Geoffrey Kitchener. The nearest second division athlete was over 2 minutes behind, and James was also faster than all the first division M60 runners. He is now listed as ninth in the 2015 UK M60 rankings.
It would be good to report this as the icing on the cake, but unfortunately there was virtually no cake. There were only two other SAC attendees: Geoffrey Kitchener and David Simpson, who were both committed to officiating at the triple jump, our club’s contribution to the running of the league. David managed to break off for long enough to take a hammer throw, earning fourth place in the M50 competition for 4 points. Even coupled with 7 points from James’s victory, however, it is unsurprising that the score for the first meeting has left us at the bottom of the league table.

Now is the time to remedy this! The next meeting is on Monday 11th May at Sutcliffe Park. The programme is:

6.45: men’s javelin and high jump; also women’s shot put, pole vault and 200m.
7.05: men’s 200m.
7.25: women’s 1500m.
8.00: men’s shot put (including over 60s); women’s javelin.
8.05: men's 1500m (including over 60s).
8.45: women’s 4x100m relay.
8.55: men’s 4x100m relay.

If you are able to attend, please This email address is being protected from spambots. (If you've already said you're unable to make this one, then I'm aware of it, but am sending this to a wide circulation list and including you for information.)

If you need a lift, or can give one, it would be helpful to mention. Sutcliffe Park is at Eltham Road, Eltham, SE9 6BB (nearest station, Kidbrooke).  The pedestrian entrance is from the south side of the park, off the A210 and parking is in nearby residential streets.
