Heather Fitzmaurice won the Highway 10k in Orpington on Sunday 22nd September and was sixteenth overall.

The only other Sevenoaks AC runner in the field was Lionel Steilow who was eighty-fifth - and first M70 - in 57:48.

This result comes two weeks after Heather was third woman, fourteenth overall and second W45 in the Rye Ancient Trails 15k, where Hugh Brennan won the accompanying 30k race with Marion van Lille third in the women's race and Jake Fricker, Nick and Anna Taylor and Russell Crane also well placed.

John Witton was 20th and fifth M40 and Lionel Stielow was fifth M70 as just six Sevenoaks AC runners completed the Larkfield 10k in hot sunny conditions on Sunday 15th September.

The race was the Kent short-course road championship and there was a big turnout from the leading clubs. It was also the penultimate race of the Kent GP series with just the Maidstone Half to go (on 13th October).

David Lobley won the September handicap ahead of Andrew Mead and Suzy Claridge.

Andrew Mead still leads the series by six points ahead of Sylvia Lewis.

The next race, over seven miles, is at 09:00 on Sunday 27th October from the Sevenoaks School track.

Heather Fitzmaurice was third and first W45 at the Eridge 10 on 1st September.

While the race preferences of Sevenoaks AC runners were split between this race and the Weald 10k, the lure of beer and cake afterwards was the determining factor for some of our athletes.

John Witton led the fourteen SAC runners home in a brilliant 10th place, closely followed by Ed Saunders in 15th and Andrew Hutchinson in 16th.
