David Killpack won the third event of the 2024 Sevenoaks AC handicap series in his first race over the hilly five mile course. Killpack beat his handicap by nearly four minutes for a time of 37:23 and was the first of six runners inside their targets despite wet and sometimes slippery conditions.
The other five runners under their handicaps were all recently returned to the event after layoffs. They were led by Dan Witt in 50:09 in second, followed by Simon Rowe 42:23 third, Suzy Claridge (39:24) and Anthony Waldron (39:44) tied fourth and Will Witt (65:15) sixth. Suzy Claridge's time was the fastest women's time of the day, while David Hale in eighth place in 35:55 was the fastest overall. A quarter of the way into the series, no-one has yet emerged as a likely challenger for the series trophy, which goes to the runner with the best four finishing positions over all twelve races. However, nine of those races are yet to come. The fourth race of the 2024 series is over the alternate seven-mile distance. It starts from the Sevenoaks School track at 08:30 on Sunday 28th April.
